The International Chamber of Commerce published the new Incoterms 2020 last year and the new rules have been effective since January 1st, 2020.
The Incoterms rules provide guidance when you are exporting and/or importing good. The terms are universal and were created to avoid confusion between importer and exporter, buyers and sellers, so all parties understand their responsibilities.
There are many different ways you can share responsibilities and obligations when it comes to importing/exporting. It is important for both parties to pre-define those responsibilities using the world’s terms of trade for the sale of goods: Incoterms.
